TVS Akula 310 Overview
December 22, 2016: The recent spy shots and the surfacing of a nearly complete bike hint at the TVS Akula 310’s launch in a couple of months. The Akula 310 is a fully-faired bike, based on the BMW G 310 R that is being manufactured by TVS at their Chennai plant for BMW Motorrad as part of a JV. It was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Akula 310 uses the BMW G 310 R’s 313cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder motor and could make the same 34PS of power and 28Nm of torque. It also gets high-spec cycle parts in the form of a steel trellis frame, upside down 41mm telescopic forks, rear monoshock, petal disc brakes and Michelin tyres. It also gets a fully-digital instrument console. The TVS Akula 310 should come out by March 2017 and is expected to be priced under Rs 2 lakh, which will make it a strong competitor to the Honda CBR250R, KTM RC 390 and the upcoming Benelli Tornado 310R.
